Detectives from the Gold Coast Criminal Investigation Branch have charged two people following an investigation into fraud and possession of suspected stolen property at Surfers Paradise on Thursday, 16 April.
It will be alleged on Wednesday, 15 April about 10.40pm a man and woman checked into an apartment on Hanlan Street using a fraudulently obtained credit card and false identification.
At about 9.30am on April 16, police received a call for service to the address for an unrelated matter and during enquiries, police allegedly located multiple credit cards in various names.
Officers also allegedly located equipment consistent with the production of false identification documents, including an identification card maker, hologram laminator and blank smart cards.
Police further seized two fake New South Wales driver licences, a number of mobile phones, and a quantity of a hazardous substance.
A 43-year-old Kew (Victoria) man has been charged with one count each of obtaining or dealing with identification information, possessing equipment for the purpose of committing or facilitating an offence, bringing stolen goods into Queensland, fraud, unlawful possession of suspected stolen property, and possessing restricted medicines or hazardous poisons.
He is due to reappear before Southport Magistrates Court on May 8.
A 49-year-old McKinnon (Victoria) woman has been charged with one count each of obtaining or dealing with identification information, possessing equipment for the purpose of committing or facilitating an offence, bringing stolen goods into Queensland, fraud, unlawful possession of suspected stolen property, and producing relevant substances or things.
She is due to reappear before Southport Magistrates Court on May 28.
Investigations are ongoing.
