At around 9.50am today, 21 August, police received reports of an armed person in Edmonton, Cairns.
It is alleged a man was armed with a machete in the vicinity of Ravizza Park.
A short time later, a 32-year-old Edmonton man was taken into custody and subsequently charged with one count each of going armed as to cause fear, possession of a knife in a public place or a school, obstruct a police officer, possess utensils or pipes, possessing dangerous drugs.
He is due to appear in Cairns Magistrates Court on 22 August 2026.
