Police have charged a man following a series of alleged offences involving multiple stolen vehicles and a serious traffic incident in Nerang early today, 15 April.
It will be alleged that around 12.55am, the man attended an Acero Court address in a white Suzuki Swift, which had earlier been stolen from Worthing Road at Victoria Point on 10 April.
The man allegedly entered a residence and stole several sets of keys, including keys to a silver BMW 325Cl, before leaving the scene in the stolen BMW.
Around 1.45am, it will be further alleged the man approached a taxi on Beaudesert Nerang Road at Nerang, stopping in front of the vehicle and demanding fuel while indicating he had a weapon. When the taxi driver attempted to leave, the BMW allegedly rammed the taxi, causing it to roll onto its side down an embankment.
The 63-year-old male driver of the taxi, and a 69-year-old male passenger, were removed from the vehicle by emergency services and transported to Gold Coast University Hospital for assessment.
The BMW continued a short distance before crashing through a fence and coming to a stop at a nearby property on Willawong Crescent at Nerang.
Around 2am, it will be alleged the man then entered a second residence, where he demanded car keys from the occupant before attempting to flee in a black Lexus IS250, which was driven into a swimming pool.
He then fled on foot before being arrested a short time later.
During investigations, police also allegedly located dangerous drugs and drug utensils inside the Suzuki, along with a syringe in the man’s possession.
A 21-year-old Goodna man has been charged with three counts each of unlawful use of a motor vehicle and possessing dangerous drugs, two counts of enter dwelling and commit an indictable offence, and one count each of attempted armed robbery, dangerous operation of a vehicle, fail to properly dispose of a needle and syringe, possess utensils and unlicensed driving.
He is due to appear at Southport Magistrates Court today, 15 April.
Investigations are ongoing.
