Nine people have been charged with 22 offences following investigations into the unlawful possession of firearms and dangerous drugs throughout the Gladstone area this month.
Capricornia District Tactical Crime Squad, with the assistance of Tannum Sands General Duties and Dog Squad, executed a number of search warrants at properties in West Gladstone, Barney Point, Boyne Island and Gladstone Central.
The two-day operation titled Operation Afield was conducted between 1 and 4 April, targeting unlawful possession of firearms and the supply of dangerous drugs within the Gladstone Patrol Group area.
In total, police seized a shortened bolt-action rifle, firearm parts and ammunition, over $45,000 in cash, and quantities of methylamphetamine, GHB, cannabis, along with several drug utensils.
Around 9.30am on 4 April, police executed a search warrant at a Flinders Street address and located over $9,000 in cash and quantities of methylamphetamine, GHB and cannabis.
A 42-year-old West Gladstone man was charged with three counts of possessing dangerous drugs, and one count each of possessing utensils, and anything for use in the commission of crime.
He is due to appear before Gladstone Magistrates Court on 5 May.
At approximately 7pm on 4 April, police executed a search warrant at a Brin Street address and located a loaded shortened firearm, ammunition, and drug utensils.
A 35-year-old man from Boyne Island was charged with possessing shortened firearms, possession of detachable magazines without license, and authority required to possess explosives.
He has been remanded in custody and due to reappear before Gladstone Magistrates Court on 6 May.
Investigations are ongoing.
