Police have charged a man after he allegedly attempted to steal a power generator at Caboolture this afternoon, March 8.
It will be alleged that around 3pm, officers were notified of a man tampering and attempting to steal a generator powering a set of traffic lights at the intersection of Bribie Island Rd and Toorbul Point Rd, before he was disturbed and left the scene in a white utility.
Officers attended the scene and observed that a chain securing the generator had been cut, and as a result power had been lost to the nearby traffic lights.
Officers attended a Ningi address a short time later and located a man and a white utility vehicle that contained a pair of bolt cutters.
The 39-year-old man Ningi man has been given a notice to appear for one count each of attempted stealing, wilful damage.
He is due to appear in Caboolture Magistrates Court on April 4.
Acting Chief Superintendent Adam Guild said patrols will continue throughout southeast Queensland throughout the coming days to deter anti-social and criminal behaviour.
“The Queensland Police Service has zero tolerance for stealing, especially during a disaster,” Acting Chief Superintendent Guild said.
“As we move into the recovery phase, police will continue to target offenders and hold them responsible for their actions.”
