Two men have been charged following an incident at North Lakes yesterday where a stolen vehicle was tracked by police and Polair.

Between 11pm on Tuesday, February 18 and 6.30am on Wednesday, February 19 a 24-year-old Mansfield man and a 28-year-old Clontarf man allegedly gained entry to a property on Elizabeth Street, Woodend before stealing and fleeing the scene in a grey Mitsubishi Triton.

The Mitsubishi Triton has since been located after it was involved in a traffic crash.

Investigations indicate, the Mitsubishi Triton was travelling along Pumicestone Road, Caboolture about 4.50am yesterday, February 20 when it struck a grey Toyota Hilux.

The occupants of the Triton then fled the scene on foot.

The driver and sole occupant of the Toyota Hilux, a 23-year-old Caboolture man was transported to Caboolture Hospital as a precaution.

The 24-year-old Mansfield man and two unknown offenders then allegedly used a weapon to threaten a resident at an address on Ibis Court, Caboolture around 5am yesterday, February 20 before driving off with the victim’s blue Mazda CX9.

It will be further alleged the 24-year-old Mansfield man and a 28-year-old Clontarf man gained entry to a Thompson Street, Bellmere address just before 1pm yesterday, before fleeing the scene in the Mazda CX9.

Police, including Polair, tracked the vehicle for a short time, before it stopped at a North Lakes shopping centre.

The two men were located inside the shopping centre and arrested by police around 2pm.

The 28-year-old Clontarf man has been charged with one count each of enter dwelling and commit and unlawful use of a motor vehicle.

He is expected to appear in the Caboolture Magistrates Court today, February 21.

The 24-year-old Mansfield man has been charged with one count each of enter dwelling and commit, dangerous operation of a vehicle, unlawful use of a motor vehicle and receiving stolen property.

He will be appearing in Caboolture Magistrates Court today.

A third man remains outstanding as investigations continue.
