The forensic crash unit is investigating a fatal traffic crash involving two trucks at Brookstead, Sunday February 16.

Investigations indicate around 10.30pm emergency services were called to a crash on the Gore Highway following reports two vehicles travelling in opposite directions collided.

One of the trucks caught fire and the driver received life threatening injuries and was declared deceased at the scene.

The driver of the other truck has received treatment for non-life threatening injuries.

Police are appealing to witnesses or anyone with relevant dashcam to come forward.

Investigations are continuing.
