Late Senior Sergeant Brendan Wiblen has been honoured at a special ceremony held at the Avenue of Remembrance in the Queensland Police Academy at Oxley yesterday.
Friends, family, and colleagues of Senior Sergeant Wiblen gathered at the Oxley Academy to unveil a plaque alongside a tree planted in his name.
Attendees also laid wreaths to honour and celebrate his exemplary service to the community.

Senior Sergeant Wiblen was 58 years old when he tragically lost his life in a single-vehicle motorbike crash near Glen Innes, New South Wales, while participating in the annual Wall to Wall Ride charity event in 2024.
The Wall to Wall Ride honours fallen police officers across Australia, with current and retired officers riding from their home states to the National Police Memorial in Canberra.
Senior Sergeant Wiblen started with the QPS in 1996 after serving for ten years in the South Australian Police as a detective.
Following his graduation from the Queensland Police Academy, he was posted to the Townsville District before transferring to the Gold Coast District in 1999.
He initially served as Officer in Charge of the Australia Fair Police Beat before undertaking a variety of operational and leadership roles at Southport Police Station as a Sergeant and later a Senior Sergeant.
While working as the Senior Sergeant District Duty Officer for the Gold Coast he oversaw numerous dangerous operations and significant incidents, supporting his fellow officers as an advocate and mentor and demonstrating his leadership capabilities.
During the ceremony, Deputy Commissioner Cheryl Scanlon APM presented the Queensland Police Blue Heart Medal to the family of Senior Sergeant Wiblen, posthumously honouring his service and sacrifice.

Deputy Commissioner Cheryl Scanlon APM paid tribute to Senior Sergeant Wiblen and his extensive 28-year career with the Queensland Police Service.
“We honour Senior Sergeant Brendan Wiblen as a respected colleague, an inspiring leader, and for his decades of dedicated service,” Deputy Commissioner Scanlon said.
“He demonstrated the true values of the Queensland Police Service every day he put on his uniform and served his community.
“He had a remarkable career and made a profound impact, forever remembered as an exceptional father to his two sons, grandfather, officer, and friend to all who knew him.”
A touchstone will also be placed at the Queensland Police Memorial in the Brisbane City Botanic Gardens to honour Senior Sergeant Wiblen.
