Detectives from Emerald Criminal Investigation Branch (CIB) have charged a 20-year-old man following a protracted investigation into multiple property and vehicle offences across the Central Highlands region earlier this year.

Police will allege the man was responsible for multiple crimes committed between May and June, involving break and enters, vehicle thefts and stealing offences.

On July 1 detectives with assistance from the Tactical Crime Squad, Dog Squad and officers from Emerald and Anakie Police Stations located the man at a Sapphire address where he was arrested and taken into custody.

A 20-year-old Rubyvale man is facing 55 charges including 12 counts of enter premises and commit, eight counts of disqualified driving, seven counts each of unlawful use of a motor vehicle and attempted enter premises and commit, three counts each of stealing, trespass and enter dwelling and commit, two counts of wilful damage and one count each of enter premises with intent, enter dwelling with intent, evasion, arson, unlawful entry of a motor vehicle and receiving tainted property.

He is due to appear before Emerald Magistrates Court today, 3 July.

Capricornia District Detective Inspector Luke Peachey said as part of ongoing efforts under Operation Yankee Forge police will continue to be agile and responsive to community needs and target high harm offending, to reduce victims of crime across Queensland.

“Every victim of property crime deserves to know we’re doing everything we can to identify those responsible and prevent further offending,” Detective Inspector Peachey said.

“Our officers will continue to target repeat offenders while maintaining a visible presence in the places that need it most.

“This operation is about more than making arrests – it’s about reducing crime, increasing community confidence and ensuring people feel safe where they live ,work and visit.”

Detectives are appealing for anyone with relevant information that may assist with their investigations to contact police.

Investigations remain ongoing.
