An EMERGENCY ALERT has been issued for Charters Towers as at 09:53am on Wednesday, March 19.

This is a WATCH AND ACT water conversation message from the Charters Towers Regional Council, due to increased river heights at Charters Towers Weir.

Residents and the business community are advised to be pre-pared for level 5 water restrictions, should the river continue to rise.
