Detectives are investigating the death of a 52-year-old woman whose body was found at a property in South Australia’s south-east.
Emergency services responded to reports a woman was unconscious at an address on Lake Terrace East at Mount Gambier just before 8am on Saturday.
“On police arrival they located a 52-year-old woman who sadly could not be revived,” police said.
Detectives and forensic police are now investigating.
Police said they were speaking with a 53-year-old man who “is assisting with enquiries”.
Limestone Coast Superintendent Cheryl Brown said that, at the present time, “we do not understand the circumstances around her death”.
“At this point in time we’re being assisted from people in regards to the circumstances,” she said.
“Very shortly we’ll have a better awareness and understanding.”
Superintendent Brown said there was “absolutely” no further risk “to the community”.
Kylie Panozzo lives across the street from the house where the woman died.
“I just was a little bit shocked when I came out and saw all the police there,” Ms Panozzo said.
“I didn’t know what was going on.”
