In short:
Police say the man involved in the siege was wanted over a break-in at Upper Sturt.
STAR Group officers and negotiators were called to Glen Osmond, where the man shut himself inside a home, police said.
What’s next?
Police say they expected the man would be taken back into custody after an assessment in hospital.
A siege at a house in Adelaide’s eastern suburbs has ended with the wanted man being tasered and arrested, police have said.
The 47-year-old Glen Osmond man has been taken to hospital for assessment following a six-hour stand-off with heavily armed officers at a house in Elinor Terrace.
SA Police said they tracked the man to the property after he was allegedly involved in a break-in at a separate home at Upper Sturt in Adelaide’s foothills, where police were called about 12:15pm.
Police said a resident at that property reported that the man “had broken into his house, threatened him and damaged electronic items … before leaving the scene”.
No one was injured, police said, and the two men are believed to be known to one another.
Police including STAR Group officers and negotiators were called to the Glen Osmond home about 2pm, and said they believed the man may have been in “possession of a weapon”, but that no-one else was inside.
“When officers approached the door, the suspect refused to come outside and locked the doors,” police said.
Just before 8pm, STAR Group “gained entry to the house”, and the man was tasered and arrested.
Police said they expected he would be taken back into custody after an assessment in hospital.
