A man accused of murdering 17-month-old toddler Ronan Davies in June last year will stand trial in the Supreme Court.

Quentin Corrigan, 31, of Glenelg North, appeared in the Adelaide Magistrates Court on Tuesday via video link from custody and pleaded not guilty to one count of murder.

Prosecutors allege Ronan sustained head and internal injuries while in the care of Mr Corrigan at his home on June 7, 2023.

Mr Corrigan, who police say is a friend of the family, then returned Ronan to his father’s home at Ottoway, in Adelaide’s north west.

Ronan was then taken to the Women’s and Children’s Hospital where he died two days later.

Mr Corrigan was arrested and charged over the death in the weeks after the boy’s death, following investigations by Major Crime Detectives.

He will next appear in the Supreme Court in November.
