A woman has been injured in a gas explosion at a fish and chip shop on Kangaroo Island, emergency services say.
More than two dozen Country Fire Service (CFS) crews and paramedics have attended the scene on North Terrace at Penneshaw.
The CFS said the front of the shop had been blown out by the explosion, which was reported to emergency services just after 5pm.
The SA Ambulance Service (SAAS) said a woman aged between 35 and 40 had suffered burns to her face, hands and thighs.
SAAS said the woman was conscious and breathing, and the incident was being treated as an industrial accident.
About 25 firefighters attended the scene and have contained the flames, and fire cause investigators are working to determine the cause.
The fish and chip shop is next to a youth hostel, and early estimates have put the expected damage bill in the tens of thousands of dollars.
