Police crash investigators are seeking witnesses and any dashcam footage.

A four-year-old boy has sustained serious injuries after being hit by a taxi while riding his bike on a street in Adelaide’s south on Sunday morning.

Emergency services were called to Macklin Street at Plympton Park about 10:45am, after receiving reports a child on a bike had been hit by a van.

The boy was taken to the Women’s and Children’s Hospital, the SA Ambulance Service said.

His injuries are considered serious but not life-threatening, and police have appealed to the public for information about the incident.

Major crash investigators attended the scene, and the taxi was towed from the area for further examination.

Police said the 51-year-old driver was assisting them with their inquiries.

The street is near the local sports oval, and police have appealed for witnesses or anyone who may have dashcam footage to contact Crime Stoppers.

A nearby road — South Terrace — was closed, but has since reopened.
