A man has been charged with murder after an alleged stabbing in Coober Pedy in South Australia’s far north.

SA Police said they were called to Hutchison Street about 5:45pm on Tuesday to reports someone had been stabbed.

Officers said when they arrived, they found an Indulkana man, 46, with a stab wound to his chest.

He was taken to hospital for treatment but died a short time later.

Police said they arrested a Coober Pedy man, 47, who was known to the other man, and charged him with murder.

He will appear in the Coober Pedy Magistrates Court on Wednesday.

Major Crime Detectives will fly to Coober Pedy on Wednesday morning.
