A second person has been charged over the alleged murder of William Holdback in Adelaide’s inner north-west last week.

Emergency services were called to Barrpowell Street at Welland in the early hours of April 10, after reports a man had been found unresponsive on the road.

Mr Holdback, 21, from Flinders Park died at the scene.

Brian Slann, 51, from Elizabeth East, appeared in the Adelaide Magistrates Court today charged with Mr Holdback’s murder.

Mr Slann did not apply for bail and will remain in custody until October when the matter returns to court.

On Saturday, police arrested Liam Slann, 26, from Adelaide’s northern suburbs and charged him with Mr Holdback’s murder.

He faced the Adelaide Magistrates Court via video link on Monday and did not apply for bail.

Police allege two suspects travelled from Elizabeth East to Musgrave Street at Welland in a BMW sedan early on Wednesday morning.

They said Mr Holdback met the suspects on Musgrave Street before a brief argument occurred and he fled.

Police said the passenger of the car allegedly stabbed Mr Holdback on Barrpowell Street and left the scene with the driver.

Detectives allege the suspects then drove along South Road, Port River Expressway, Salisbury Highway and John Rice Avenue.

Police have appealed for anyone with dashcam footage who was travelling on those roads between 1:15am and 1:49am to contact them.
