A 27-year-old man from Adelaide’s northern suburbs has been arrested and charged with the murder of William Holdback.

The 21-year-old was found unresponsive at Welland, in Adelaide’s inner north-west, in the early hours of Wednesday morning.

His death was declared a major crime. 

Late on Saturday, detectives arrested the 27-year-old man from a northern suburbs address.

He was refused bail and will appear in the Adelaide Magistrates Court on Monday.

Mr Holdback found unresponsive on street

Emergency services were called to Barrpowell Street after reports a man had been found unresponsive on the road.

Witnesses attempted to give medical assistance to the man, but he died at the scene.

Police were looking for a BMW that may be linked to the incident.

Detectives believe the BMW travelled north on South Road from Welland, east along the Port River Expressway, along the full length of Salisbury Highway and onto John Rice Avenue.
