Major crash officers and detectives attended the scene to examine the circumstances surrounding the incident.

A 33-year-old Medindie man, who police said was known to the woman, has been arrested and charged with causing death by dangerous driving, driving without due care and endangering life.

Nearby neighbour to the crash scene Ayaz Aslam said he saw the area being cordoned off after the incident.

“We’ve never seen such a sight on this street, it was quite horrific to see,” Mr Aslam said.

“It was scary, the children play on the street – and obviously it’s quite dangerous.”

Mr Aslam said it was tragic to hear of the woman’s death.

“We are sad to hear what’s happened this morning,” he said.

“We have never seen something like this here.”

The 33-year-old driver was bailed to appear in the Adelaide Magistrates Court in March.
