The employer of a woman who was allegedly murdered and another seriously injured in Adelaide’s south west has spoken out for the first time to praise witnesses and paramedics who helped save one of their colleagues’ lives.

Key points:

  • A man has been charged with murder over the alleged stabbing of Julie Seed at a real estate business
  • Ms Seed’s employer shared a heartfelt message on social media
  • Another worker Susan Scardigno was seriously injured in the same incident

Julie “Julez” Seed was allegedly stabbed at a real estate business she worked at on Lydia Street in Plympton on Wednesday afternoon.

The 38-year-old died at the scene.

Another employee Susan Scardigno, 50, suffered serious injuries and was taken to the Royal Adelaide Hospital.

Police arrested Shaun Michaels Dunk, 30, at the scene before charging him with one count of murder and one count of attempted murder.

In a post to Facebook on Sunday, the director of Real Estate Agents Group, Ally Comley, said they were devastated by the “heart-rending loss” of their property manager, Ms Seed, and the serious injuries sustained by their team leader, Ms Scardigno.

“I give them their titles here simply as a courtesy, as these two girls were more importantly our real sisters — an integral part of our real family who we love wholly,” Ms Comley said.

“Julie’s family are suffering incredibly with the pain of their loss, and we feel deeply for them.”

Ms Comley also praised the efforts of witnesses and paramedics who rushed to the two women’s aid.

“We are completely indebted to our co-tenants in the building for their brave and timely intervention,” she said.

“Without question they saved Sue’s life.”

“We are full of gratitude to the number of amazing paramedics who attended to our girls with such skill and professionalism and who worked tirelessly to save Julie.”

Ms Comley also wrote that Ms Scardigno was recovering from her serious injuries and had “pulled through due to her inner strength”.

“She is an inspirational woman and is already making a remarkable recovery due to her tenacity,” she said.

“But her emotional healing I’m sure, will be lengthy. We will stand by all of them in every way possible.”

A GoFundMe page has already raised more than $3,000, with funds to be “directed straight to those impacted to help meet their immediate and ongoing needs as they navigate the pathway forward”.

“Our direct families, our friends, our dear clients, our awesome tradies & other suppliers who are all part of our REAL family, and our entire real estate community …. all have been affected deeply.”

Ms Comley said the tragedy has had a ripple effect across the community but acknowledged the “overwhelming” support they had received from everyone.

“We have been overwhelmed and humbled by messages of support from our clients, landlords, tenants, and our neighbouring businesses — your kindness and beautiful messages have touched us,” she said.

In a statement earlier this week, SA Health confirmed the accused, Mr Dunk, was discharged from hospital two days prior to the attack, after being treated for a mental health condition.

Officers previously said the man was not known to the two women and that the stabbing was suspected to be random.

Mr Dunk, who was remanded in custody under the Mental Health Act on Thursday, is expected to face court again in March.
