A 61-year-old man is in hospital in a critical condition after his home in Adelaide’s inner northern suburbs was broken into this morning.

Police said just before 4:30am patrols were called to James Street at Gilberton after reports of a home invasion.
The man was found at the residence with serious injuries and is now in the Royal Adelaide Hospital in a critical condition.
Police said a 30-year-old man, who also occupies the home, was present at the time but was not injured during the attack.
Police have searched the area and have not been able to locate the suspects.
James Street will remain closed until further notice and motorists are being urged to avoid the area.
Forensic investigators and Major Crime have set up a crime scene in front of the home.
