A woman has been charged over the alleged attempted murder of a man in 2018, who was left a quadraplegic from axe wounds sustained at an Adelaide Hills home months earlier.

Key points:

  • Police have charged a woman accused of trying to murder a man at the Hampstead Rehabilitation Centre
  • Two other people have been charged over a separate attack on the same alleged victim
  • The woman will face court on Monday

Police arrested the 34-year-old Everard Park woman at her home on Friday.

During an incident at Littlehampton in October 2017, Jonathon Hawtin was allegedly struck with an axe by another man, who received a gunshot wound to his abdomen.

Police will allege the woman attempted to murder Mr Hawtin at the Hampstead Rehabilitation Centre in 2018.

She has been remanded in custody at the City Watch House and will appear in the Adelaide Magistrates Court on Monday.

As part of Operation Fabula, police have arrested Mr Hawtin’s former partner Lisa Lines, who has been extradited from the Pacific nation of Palau, and Zachariah Bruckner in Brisbane.

Ms Lines has been charged with two counts each of attempted murder and conspiracy to murder while Mr Bruckner has faced court in Adelaide with similar charges.

Mr Hawtin was himself charged with attempted murder over a shooting at the Littlehampton house but was subsequently acquitted, when a Supreme Court jury found him not guilty in 2019.
