A young pedestrian has been hit and killed by a truck at the entrance to Adelaide’s Southern Expressway.

Key points:

  • The Sellicks Beach man was hit by the truck early this afternoon
  • The 23-year-old died at the scene
  • Police are seeking any dash cam footage of the incident

The 23-year-old Sellicks Beach man was struck by the vehicle near Flinders Drive at Bedford Park about 12:15pm and died at the scene.

SA Police’s Major Crash unit is examining the circumstances surrounding the crash.

Several witnesses have already provided statements but police have appealed for others, and anyone with dash cam footage that could assist the investigation, to contact Crime Stoppers.

“The truck driver, a 40-year-old northern suburbs man, was not physically injured in the crash,” police said.

The man’s death is the 89th on South Australia’s roads this year, compared to 57 at the same time 12 months ago.

The Southern Expressway has been closed for southbound traffic from the Bedford Park entrance, but police said the Marion Road entrance was still open for southbound traffic.
