A fifth man has been arrested and charged over the alleged rape of a woman in Adelaide’s western suburbs in June.

Key points:

  • The 26-year-old was extradited from Victoria on Thursday, police said
  • He is the fifth man arrested over the alleged rape
  • Police allege the crime occurred in Adelaide’s west in June

Police said the 26-year-old will face court on Friday, after being extradited from Victoria on Thursday by detectives from the Special Crimes Investigation Section.

The man has been charged with rape, with police alleging the crime occurred on Sunday, June 18.

Four other men — a 27-year-old and a 22-year-old from Adelaide’s west, a 22-year-old from Victoria and a 24-year-old from South Australia’s south-east — have previously been arrested.

All are currently in custody, police said.

The south-east man appeared last week in the Mount Gambier Magistrates Court, which heard that police were, at that time, still seeking a fifth suspect who was then “outstanding”.

Police said the 26-year-old has been refused police bail and will appear in the Adelaide Magistrates Court on Friday.
