- He has been spotted at a few businesses since then
- They believe he is travelling in a white Suzuki Vitara
Limestone Coast police, assisted by State Emergency Service volunteers, are asking the community for help as they search for Wynn Vale man Tyson, 27.
Police declined to release the man’s surname.
Police say he left his home about 5pm on Sunday, August 6, and caught a bus to Mount Gambier on Monday afternoon.
He attended the Big W at the Marketplace Shopping Centre and Bunnings between 4.30 and 5.30pm.
He then travelled to the Mount Gambier airport, where he was last sighted hiring a white 2023 Suzuki Vitara, with the licence plate S508CWC.
Police have called for anyone with dashcam footage near the shopping centre or airport between 4.30 and 6.30pm on Monday to review the footage for signs of the vehicle
He is believed to still be with the car.
Police say the matter is a missing person investigation and is not being treated as a criminal matter.
New leads needed
Limestone Coast Local Service Area officer in charge Superintendent Campbell Hill said police had exhausted all existing leads and were now appealing to the public for information.
“His family are very concerned, we’re very concerned, and we’ll continue our efforts to search within the Limestone Coast,” he said.
“We’re exploring as to whether he’s remained here but … we’re open to the fact he might have used Mount Gambier as a stop off and continued on.”
Superintendent Hill said the car was expected to have been returned by now.
“The fact that it hasn’t been returned is a cause of concern for us,” he said.
“We’re not treating that as a criminal matter.”
Superintendent Hill said police had used planes and additional resources from Adelaide in the search.
“We need to keep searching for him and we’ll continue through with that,” he said.
“But we’re really hoping that someone will provide us some information that would effectively provide us with a pivot point that we can then commence further inquiries.”
Police are asking anyone who has seen the man in the area since Monday have information on his whereabouts, or may have captured him or his vehicle on CCTV or dashcam footage to call the police assistance line on 131 444.
