A teenager has died following a crash in a regional town near the South Australian and Victorian border on Tuesday night.

SA Police said officers were called to Senior Road at Senior, about 17 kilometres north of Bordertown, at 6:45pm on Tuesday following reports of a single-vehicle rollover.

The occupant of a Toyota Hilux, a 17-year-old boy from Senior, died at the scene.

SA Police said Major Crash investigators were travelling from Adelaide to examine the circumstances of the crash.

The teen’s death marks the 74th life lost on South Australian roads compared with 46 at the same time last year.

South Australia’s road death total has already exceeded that of the entirety of 2022, and is climbing at its fastest rate since 2010.
