Murder charge laid as family pays tribute to Adelaide dad found shot in street

A man has been charged with murder over the fatal shooting of an Adelaide father who was found in a southern suburbs street over the weekend.

Police said the victim, 41-year-old Glenn Holton, was lying on a Dunorlan Road at Edwardstown with a gunshot wound when paramedics arrived about 9:30pm Sunday night.

The Adelaide father was rushed to hospital, but died a short time later.

Shocked and grief-stricken friends and family have paid tribute to Mr Holton on social media, with his brother singling out his “sensitive and caring heart”.

“I’m honestly lost,” he wrote. “I love you big brother and I’ll see you when I see you.”

Another mourner said she was “in total shock”.

“We will all miss your smile and warmth darling,” she posted on Mr Holton’s Facebook timeline.

Another said Mr Holton “always lit up the room whenever he was around”.

“Such a great guy. He will be dearly missed by all that knew him,” he wrote.

Police arrested a man in connection to the incident last night, and the accused appeared in the Port Adelaide Magistrates Court this afternoon and did not apply for bail.

A suppression order has been placed on his identity while the police investigation continues.

The police prosecutor told the court the interim suppression order was needed because the ongoing investigation was “reasonably complex” and a “large number” of witnesses had to be spoken to.

Police investigating the alleged murder yesterday released CCTV showing three vehicles driving east on Dunorlan Road towards South Road around the time of the incident, and have appealed for the drivers to come forward.

They believe the drivers may have seen the victim, a man riding a pushbike and “possibly a third person in the street”.

Police also seized a white Toyota Camry in a nearby street which they believed belonged to Mr Holton, which is being forensically tested.
