A young man is lucky to be alive after falling from a downpipe on the side of an Adelaide building, police say.

The 22-year-old was seriously injured when the downpipe he was believed to be climbing snapped around 2:30am.
He fell about 12 metres from the building at the corner of King William Street and Clarence Place in the CBD, adjacent to a building site.
The man, from Adelaide’s inner suburbs, was rushed to the Royal Adelaide Hospital but police said his condition was no longer considered to be life-threatening.
Police said he had been out with three friends in the city that night before making the “foolish decision” to climb up the building.
Senior Constable Peta Squire said the incident was “potentially a misadventure”.
