A 56-year-old Victor Harbor woman has died after falling from a horse at the Riding for the Disabled equestrian centre at Hindmarsh Valley this afternoon.

Paramedics rushed to Southern Fleurieu Riding for the Disabled’s property on Lipizzaner Drive, near Victor Harbor, just after 1pm but the volunteer with the organisation died at the scene.
SafeWork SA staff and Victor Harbor detectives attended the scene.
A report will be prepared for the coroner.
Riding for the Disabled provides horse therapy through activities including horse-riding lessons and competitions.
Volunteers from the organisation have been consoling each other this evening.
A statement from the organisation said the volunteer’s death had “come as an enormous shock to our organisation and to the tight-knit RDA community”.
“We would like to thank the paramedics who were quickly on scene for their professionalism and compassion,” it said.
“She could not have been in better hands; unfortunately, it wasn’t enough.”
Counselling is being provided to other volunteers.
“No program participants were present at the time of the accident,” the statement said.
“We are liaising with the family and will provide further updates to our community as appropriate.
“We appreciate everyone’s understanding during this difficult time.”
