Key points:
- The 26-year-old woman’s body was found inside a house on Poole Street at Millicent
- A 25-year-old man was arrested at the scene
- Police have charged him with murder and have asked anyone with information to contact Crime Stoppers
The body of the 26-year-old Millicent woman was found inside a Poole Street property just after 11pm.
Police were called to the scene following reports of an assault.
A 25-year-old Millicent man was arrested at the scene and was taken to Mount Gambier Police Station to be interviewed by detectives.
Police earlier said they would likely charge him with murder, and have since done that.
“He will remain in custody until he appears in the Mount Gambier Magistrates Court on Tuesday,” police said.
Police have described the alleged murder as a “domestic incident” and believe the man and woman were known to each other.
“Major Crime officers are attending the scene to assist in the investigation,” police said.
Poole Street has been cordoned off by police, who have urged anyone with information to call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or online.
