Three members of one Adelaide family are set to face court today after police found drugs and more than $50,000 buried in their backyard.
Key points:
- SA Police is investigating the southern suburbs drug scene, including suspicious deaths
- A search of a Morphett Vale property allegedly found drugs and cash
- A man and his parents will face court today
Officers searched their Morphett Vale property yesterday, which included digging up the backyard, where they found more than 600 grams of methamphetamine and a separate container with $50,870 in cash.
A 38-year-old man and his parents — aged 59 and 62 — have been charged with offences including trafficking in a commercial quantity of a controlled drug, money laundering and possessing prescription drugs.
Detectives also seized jewellery and an e-bike, which police alleged were the proceeds of crime.
The trio are expected to appear in the Christies Beach Magistrates Court today.
The search was conducted as part of Taskforce Southern, an operation looking into violence, suspected murders and other crimes in Adelaide’s southern suburbs.
However, the three people charged have not been linked with any violent crimes.
Rewards totalling $600,000 are being offered for information leading to the conviction of those responsible for the deaths of Adelaide men Robert Atkins, Jeff Mundy and Trevor King, who had all been involved in the southern suburbs drug scene.
