A man is in a stable condition in hospital after being assaulted with a brick in Adelaide’s CBD, police have said.

SA Police said emergency services were called to Sturt Street about 10:30am today, in the south-western area of the CBD, after reports that the man had been assaulted.

When officers arrived they found a 54-year-old man with serious injuries.

He was taken to the Royal Adelaide Hospital, where he remains in a stable condition.

SAPOL said officers searched a nearby address for the suspect but did not find him at this time.

Police said the suspect was known to the victim.
