SA Health says a truck driver has tested positive for COVID-19 after visiting three exposure sites in South Australia, including a Big W store.
Key points:
- A truck driver who was in SA has tested positive for COVID-19 in Victoria
- He visited a Big W store in Adelaide on Monday
- He is the fourth truck driver in a week to contract the virus
The man is now in Victoria, where he received the positive result.
As well as the Big W department store in Hallett Cove on Wednesday, he also visited petrol stations in Keith and Tailem Bend on his way into and out of South Australia on Monday and Wednesday.
He is the third truck driver in the past week to test positive for COVID-19 after being at sites in South Australia.
The Big W at the Hallett Cove Shopping Centre is listed as a tier 3 exposure site, meaning anyone who was there from 11:15am to 12:10pm on October 13 has to get tested for coronavirus immediately, as well as in five days and in 13 days.
They only need to isolate after the first test until it comes back negative.
The tier 2 exposure sites are at the Keith 24 Seven (Shell) service station from 4:15am to 5:15am on October 11 and the truckies’ lounge at the Tailem Bend OTR Motorsport Park service station from 3:45pm to 5pm on October 11.
The same two petrol stations are also tier 3 sites.
Two truck drivers who were travelling through South Australia from Victoria to Western Australia tested positive over the weekend.
Another Adelaide truck driver tested positive for the virus after returning from NSW last week.
The latest case will not count towards South Australia’s total of 914 COVID-19 cases since the pandemic began.
No new cases were reported in the state today.
