Ms Gerente Ogar’s husband, 58-year-old Antony Ogar, was arrested over the incident and charged with assault causing serious harm.

Mr Ogar appeared in court on Tuesday, where denied the charges and made an application for bail.

The court heard Ms Gerente Ogar’s injuries were sustained between July 24 and 27 at the couple’s house.

Police prosecutors also told the court on Tuesday it was not likely Ms Gerente Ogar would survive her injuries.

Magistrate Ben Sale refused Mr Ogar’s bail application and he was remanded in custody to reappear in December.

Detectives from the Port Pirie Criminal Investigation Branch are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the woman’s death.
