South Australian Police have cordoned off an area of Virginia, in Adelaide’s northern suburbs, because of a possible shooting in the area.

Key points:

  • Police were called to Brady Street in Virginia just before 3am
  • An area has been cordoned off and STAR Group officers called in
  • Police have warned members of the public to stay away from the area

Police and paramedics were called to Brady Street just before 3am this morning.

Officers have cordoned off an area and STAR Group officers were called in.

Senior Constable Rebecca Stokes told ABC Radio Adelaide that it is an unfolding incident.

“There is quite a heavy police presence in the town so we want to reassure the local community that police are at the scene and investigating this incident,” she said.

“We do believe that a firearm is involved so for their own safety we’re asking people to stay away from the area.”

Major Crime Detectives are also investigating.

More to come.
