Detectives from the Toowoomba Child Protection and Investigation Unit are appealing for public assistance as part of an ongoing investigation into historical child sex offences in the Darling Downs.
It is alleged that between 2007 and 2010, the 52-year-old man offended against a male teenage victim at a private residence in Toowoomba.
On 16 October, detectives charged a 52-year-old Murphy’s Creek man with two counts of indecent treatment of a child, and one count each of unlawful sodomy, taking a child for immoral purposes and contravening order about information necessary to access information stored electronically.
He has been remanded in custody and is due to appear in Toowoomba Magistrates Court on 8 December.
As part of their ongoing investigation, detectives are appealing for anyone with information to assist police to come forward.
Investigators believe there may be further victims, including people who may have had contact with the man while he was employed at education facilities in Toowoomba, the Lockyer Valley and Townsville between 2007 and 2010.
Anyone who may have experienced similar behaviour or has information that could assist detectives is urged to contact police.
Police are committed to investigating all reports of child sexual abuse and encourage anyone with relevant information to come forward.
