Two people have been charged with multiple offences after police intercepted a stolen vehicle in Townsville yesterday, 8 October.
Around 10am Thursday, officers observed a red Landrover Discovery driving dangerously on Bayswater Road.
It is alleged the Landrover had been stolen from a French Street, Pimlico, address on 7 October.
Officers, with assistance from the Tactical Crime Squad and POLAIR, continued to track the vehicle through Cosgrove and Mutarnee, before a Tyre Deflation Device (TDD) was successfully deployed at Coolbie around 3.05pm.
It will be alleged once the vehicle came to a stop, the driver, a 24-year-old Alice Creek man, and his passenger, a 21-year-old Kelso woman, fled the scene on foot.
The woman was located a short distance from the vehicle in cane fields, and was taken into custody.
She was charged with one count each of unlawful use of a motor vehicle, possession of a knife in a public place, receiving tainted property and two counts of possessing dangerous drugs.
The woman is due to appear before Townsville Magistrates Court, today.
The man was tracked by Dog Squad officers and taken into custody around 3.15pm.
He has been charged with one count each of dangerous operation of a vehicle, unlawful use of a vehicle, driving a vehicle without a driver licence, stealing, and two counts of receiving tainted property.
He is scheduled to appear in Townsville Magistrates Court tomorrow, 10 October.
