The Queensland State Emergency Service (SES) has released the below vision following the SES National Disaster Rescue Challenge held over the weekend on the Atherton Tablelands in Far North Queensland.
The winning Queensland team, from the Gold Coast City SES Unit, competed against State and Territory Emergency Service teams from across Australia.

About the disaster rescue scenarios
Bravo Scenario: A wedding reception aboard the Lake Barrine Tea House tourist boat goes terribly wrong when the boat driver suffers a medical episode, causing the boat to crash into the bank. The collision throws several members of the bridal party off their feet, causing significant injuries and trapping some people.
Charlie Scenario: Shortly after take-off, a hot air balloon carrying 12 passengers and a pilot crashed after encountering severe downdrafts and operator error.
Echo Scenario: A group of workers is undertaking work at the water plant at Edgewater Tinaroo estate when a storm strikes, leading to injuries and entrapments. A tree falls onto a liquid fertiliser tank, damaging it and causing liquid fertiliser to leak into the water plant.
Golf Scenario: A group of social media content creators calls for emergency assistance following an incident while filming for YouTube. They are recording videos for a “Great Aussie Cheese Wheel Run” on the northern abutment of the Tinaroo Falls Dam, resulting in multiple injuries to members of the group.
Juliet Scenario: A 4WD and a group of cyclists exploring tracks in the local area almost collide on a blind corner. The riders go through a fence and fall several metres down an embankment.
Romeo Scenario: Three TEAC education staff are conducting routine maintenance on the high ropes course when a fast-moving storm passes through the area. During the incident, all three staff members become involved in an emergency situation requiring rescue, casualty management, and scene assessment.
Sierra Scenario: SES is tasked with searching for a walker who has not returned home. The missing person, who has a broken leg, is able to give police a general location before their phone died.
Mike Scenario (non-points learning scenario): A worker’s arm is stuck in a machine, requiring the team to quickly and carefully disassemble the machine to free them.
