Tin Can Bay Station has welcomed a new Officer in Charge, bringing nearly three decades of experience bolstering community safety.
Sergeant Scott Petrie began his career with the Queensland Police Service (QPS) in 1998 in Fortitude Valley, before serving as a plain clothes detective in North Brisbane, Stanthorpe, Gatton and the Rural Crime Squad.
He says he has never lived or worked on the coast before and is excited about the new opportunities on offer.
“My latest posting was in southwest Queensland in Roma in General Duties, which is roughly 500 kilometres inland from Tin Can Bay,” Sergeant Petrie said.
“I’m most looking forward to leading in a small team environment and working alongside my team on the road in such a scenic location.”
Sergeant Petrie also said his journey with QPS is an example of all the places a career in policing can take you.
“A career in policing is not just for school leavers, it’s never too late to start a new adventure. It’s a great job if you enjoy challenging yourself, doing new things and going to new places around Queensland.”
