Police have charged a man following a serious assault in Victoria Point on 25 August.

It is alleged shortly before 1.30am, the man was among a group of armed people who gained entry into an Albatross Street property and assaulted a 46-year-old resident.

It will be alleged the man wounded the resident before fleeing the scene.

The 46-year-old resident was taken to Princess Alexandra Hospital in a critical but stable condition.

Following investigations by the Bayside Criminal Investigation Branch and Capalaba Tactical Crime Squad, an 18-year-old Wynnum West man was arrested on 4 September.

He has been charged with one count each of enter dwelling with intent by break, acts intended to cause grievous bodily harm, wilful damage and contravening order about information necessary to access information stored electronically.

He first appeared at Cleveland Magistrates Court on 4 September and will next appear on 5 November.
