Police and emergency services responded to a fatal light plane crash at Stockleigh this morning, 7 September.

Emergency services were called to a property on Musch Road at approximately 11:10am following reports a light plane had crashed.

Upon arrival, officers located two occupants of the aircraft, believed to be a 56-year-old man and a 23-year-old woman, both from Ascot, who were both declared deceased.

Initial investigations indicate the aircraft departed Archerfield Airport at approximately 10.57am.

A safety cordon remains in place while emergency services continue to work at the scene.

The Queensland Police Service will work closely with the Australian Transport Safety Bureau (ATSB), which will have carriage of the aviation safety investigation.

The circumstances surrounding the crash are still being established.

Anyone who witnessed the aircraft in the lead-up to the crash, or who may have relevant CCTV, dashcam or other vision, is urged to contact police.
