Police have charged a 35-year-old man following an investigation into an explosion at Glastonbury, near Gympie, on 12 August.
It will be alleged just before 6pm, police attended the state forest near the intersection of Glastonbury Creek Road and Gympie Woolooga Road after an unknown object had exploded causing a fire and smoke, and a man was seen leaving the scene.
The fire was extinguished prior to police arrival and there were no reported injuries.
Following investigations, a 35-year-old Deception Bay man was arrested at a Widgee address and charged with one count each of possessing a restricted weapon (pipe bomb) and dangerous conduct with a weapon (pipe bomb).
Police objected to bail and the man is due to appear before Gympie Magistrates Court today, 13 August.
Investigations remain ongoing, and anyone with information is urged to contact police.
