A further eight people have been charged following investigations into the assault of a boy at Town Common last month.
Around 6.35pm on 18 July, a 17-year-old was located in bushland off Cape Pallarenda Road by members of the public after allegedly being assaulted.
The boy was transported to Townsville University Hospital in a stable condition.
Detectives from the Townsville Child Protection and Investigation Unit, as part of Operation Yankee Shadowmark, charged an additional eight people on 7 August.
A 40-year-old Heatley woman, a 36-year-old Cranbrook woman, a 32-year-old Kirwan woman, a 30-year-old Heatley man, and a 24-year-old Heatley man have all been charged with one count each of deprivation of liberty – unlawfully detain/confine, assaults occasioning bodily harm whilst armed/in company, grievous bodily harm and torture.
They have all been remanded in custody and are to reappear in Townsville Magistrates Court today, Monday, 10 August.
Two 15-year-old Kirwan boys were also charged with one count each of deprivation of liberty – unlawfully detain/confine, assaults occasioning bodily harm whilst armed/in company, grievous bodily harm and torture.
They appeared at Townsville Children’s Court on 8 August.
A 15-year-old Mount Low boy was charged with one count each of deprivation of liberty – unlawfully detain/confine, assaults occasioning bodily harm whilst armed/in company, grievous bodily harm and torture.
He is due to appear at Townsville Children’s Court on 14 August.
A total of 11 people have been charged in relation to this matter.
Investigations are ongoing.
