The Forensic Crash Unit are investigating a serious single vehicle traffic crash at Greenvale earlier yesterday morning, 9 August.
Initial investigation between 5am and 6.30am a white Nissan Patrol was travelling west along Gregory Developmental Road towards Charters Towers before leaving the roadway and colliding with a tree.
Police and emergency services were called to the scene about 6.30am.
The driver and sole occupant of the vehicle, a 22-year-old Bulgun man, sustained life-threatening injuries and was airlifted to Townsville University Hospital.
The driver remains in hospital in a serious but stable condition.
Police are appealing to anyone who may have seen the Nissan Patrol before the incident or who may have relevant information or dashcam vision to come forward.
Investigations are ongoing.
