The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating following a fatal traffic crash in Townsville this morning, 8 August.

Shortly after 11.30am, a Mazda 3 sedan was travelling on Hervey Range Road when the driver lost control and crossed onto the incorrect side of the roadway and collided with a Toyota Landcruiser utility and a Nissan Patrol station wagon.

The 30-year-old driver of the Mazda sustained critical injuries and was declared deceased at the scene.

The driver of the Toyota, a 55-year-old Vincent man, sustained minor injuries and was transported to hospital for assessment.

The driver of the Nissan, a 56-year-old Rangewood woman, and her passenger, a 59-year-old Rangewood man, did not sustain any physical injuries.

Investigators are appealing to anyone with relevant dashcam or CCTV footage to contact police.
