Police have fined a man for driving with a child on his lap on Teewah Beach on Saturday, 25 July.
At approximately 2.15pm, police intercepted a green Landrover Defender travelling southbound on the sand in excess of the 40km an hour speed limit.
The driver of the vehicle was also observed with a 10-year-old boy sitting on his lap.
A 43-year-old Mermaid Beach man was issued a traffic infringement notice (TIN) for driving a vehicle with a passenger at least 7 years old but under 16 years old in the same seat as another passenger, as well as TINs for speeding more than 20km/h over the limit and using an unregistered four-cylinder motor vehicle.
He was fined $1295 and four demerit points.
A total of 18 TINs were issued at Teewah Beach on 25 July as part of the continued Operation Sandstorm, with 12 of those TINs for speeding.
Operation Sandstorm is a joint effort between police and Queensland Parks and Wildlife (QPWS) targeting dangerous behaviour at Noosa North Shore, Teewah Beach and Double Island Point.
