Police have charged several people and issued traffic infringement notices for a number of high speed and high-range drink driving offences this week in the Capricornia District.
Around 11.50pm on 26 July, officers intercepted a white Holden Colorado along Lower Dawson Road in Rockhampton, subjecting the driver to a roadside breath test (RBT).
The driver was subsequently transported to Rockhampton Station for further testing, where it is alleged he recorded a blood alcohol concentration (BAC) of 0.224 per cent – almost four times the legal limit.
A 20-year-old Bouldercombe man with charged with one count of driving a vehicle under the influence, and issued with a notice to appear before Rockhampton Magistrates Court on 10 August.
On 22 July, a 61-year-old Sapphire Central man has had his licence suspended after allegedly being detected travelling 42km/h over the speed limit at Emerald.
Officers allegedly observed the man driving a vehicle at 142km/h in a 100km/h zone on the Capricorn Highway around 4pm.
He was issued a traffic infringement notice for exceeding the speed limit by more than 40km/h. He was fined $1986, accrued eight demerit points and had his licence suspended for six months.
Around 4.15am on 27 July, officers intercepted a black station wagon along Jordy Drive in Hidden Valley, subjecting the driver to a roadside breath test.
The driver was subsequently transported to Yeppoon Station for further testing, where it is alleged she recorded a blood alcohol concentration (BAC) of 0.284 per cent.
A 44-year-old Hidden Valley woman was charged with one count of driving a vehicle under the influence, and issued with a notice to appear before Yeppoon Magistrates Court on 13 August.
