Police are appealing for public assistance following an assault in Maroochydore earlier this month.

It is alleged at approximately 11.50pm on 11 July, a group of eight males approached a 62-year-old man on the beach near Cotton Tree Parade and assaulted him.

The 62-year-old sustained minor injuries during the incident.

The offenders left the scene in a dark coloured sedan before travelling west along Memorial Avenue.  

Police are appealing for anyone with relevant information to come forward.
