A man has been charged after a homemade firearm was allegedly located during a proactive wanding operation at a Newtown licensed venue on 15 July.
At approximately 1.30am, police were conducting a wanding operation at a hotel on Bridge Street when a man was allegedly seen in possession of a suspected firearm.
It will be alleged the man concealed the homemade firearm inside the venue before leaving on a pushbike, travelling west along Bridge Street.
Police subsequently located and seized the firearm.
Following investigations, officers attended a Wilsonton address on 20 July where a 47-year-old man was arrested.
He has been charged with one count each of unlawful possession of a Category H firearm in a public place and authority required to possess explosives and has been remanded in custody to appear before the Toowoomba Magistrates Court on 15 August.
