A 53-year-old Muttaburra woman has been fined and had her licence suspended after allegedly being detected driving at 66km/h over the speed limit at Julia Creek on 8 July.
Officers from Mount Isa Highway Patrol were conducting mobile patrols in Julia Creek around 12.30pm when they observed a Toyota Landcruiser travelling on Flinders Highway at 176km/h, 66km/h over the signed 110km/h speed limit.
The driver was issued a high-speed traffic infringement notice for exceeding the speed limit by more than 40km/h, carrying a penalty of eight demerit points and a $1,986 fine.
Her licence will also be suspended for six-months for the offence.
